Zengo is the best of Richard Sandoval’s Denver restaurants (which include Tamayo and La Sandia), a shockingly smart and original fusion of Mexican flavors with Asian presentations and French technique. From the seared-prawn tiraditos and hamachi with shiso, soy and pickled papaya to arepas de puerco with hoisin-jacked pulled pork, Zengo’s dishes are not just odd amalgamations of flavors and styles, but honestly innovative and sensible fusions. The room is beautiful, and while the nightclub vibe can be distracting, the food is the star of this show.

    This is a great place for a date or with a large group. The tuna tacos are the best thing on the menue. Get the XO style edamame. And the classic cumcumber mojito.
