We love the personal, consistent, fragrant cooking at this small Berkeley storefront restaurant, whose kitchen uses natural and organic ingredients (it has its own garden) for what the menu terms "eclectic Mediterranean cuisine," largely Middle Eastern in inspiration (other influences include Greece and Spain). There are delicate dishes redolent of cardamom, cumin, coriander, and cloves, and sturdier ones with garlic, chilies, and paprika. Don't miss the delicious drinks -- especially jalab, flavored with date syrup and rose water, and a frothy mint lemonade.
We are very fond of this snug, eccentric East Bay eatery, which purveys its own brand of "eclectic Mediterranean cuisine" using organic ingredients, including many fruits and vegetables from its own gardens.
