If you dig big corporate box restaurants with loads of plasma TVs, this is your place. A really positive thing is the number of brews on tap: 130. But the menu is strictly hit or miss, with a few notable exceptions. The ginger-crusted salmon is a winner, as are the crab cakes and the seared ahi. But avoid the fish and chips and the ghastly “California roll.” For dessert, the beer floats are tasty, the crème brûlée a travesty. In other words, drinking here is a safer bet than eating here, so bottoms up, pardner.
My friend has a birthday and wanted to eat here. I don't usually eat at breweries due to high costs and mediocre food and this wasn't much of a different experience for me. I ordered a Caesar Salad and water and my partner had a pork dish and water and we still managed a 35 dollar bill after tip. Another one of my friends had a few ciders (the price of drinks are not marked on the menu) and his bill for two came to over 100 dollars. Had the calamari appetizer and nacho appetizer and they were greasy but still good (I threw in more money for these separate from my bill). Overall unless you have a big budget for beer and meh food, I'd eat at a restaurant that serves better food and hit the bar after. You'll probably still come out spending less than you would at the Yard House.

The classic rock jams filtering through the stereo system at the Yard House in Desert Ridge are hand-picked at the corp's Irvine HQ by none other than The Founder himself, Steele Platt, whom I imagine as a dead ringer for The Architect in The... More »
Yes, this is a chain eatery, but hear us out: The Yard House, located in Westgate City Center, is the shiz. For one, due to its killer proximity to University of Phoenix Stadium and Jobing.com Arena, the place goes off pre- and post-game, whether it's for the Cards, 'Yotes, or the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Plus the food -- which isn't just a plate full of microwaved mess -- rocks, especially the organic tomato bisque soup and the seared ahi steak sandwich. More »
