Adorning the outside of Yak-Zies are paintings of iconic musical characters from throughout the 20th Century. On one wall, John Lennon stands between Hendrix and Dylan, and right around the corner, Elvis stares with dreamy eyes. Above the mural reads, "If you don't eat here, we both starve." This little phrase is the first indicator that the Pompano bar itself is quite a character, and that realization deepens as one begins hanging out inside. The inner walls are dedicated to the Three Stooges, Norman Rockwell, and other classics, while in between them is Don the barkeep, who's been there for close to two decades. Don will happily boast of the men's room door, which features the perfect image of a vagina. Kind of like the face of Jesus in the grilled cheese sandwich, but Yak-Zies style.
