With just a few seats available, Xe May Sandwich Shop specializes in fusion banh mi, the popular baguette-based hoagies usually filled with assorted cold cuts, pickled vegetables, and cilantro. The sammys are quite good, especially the super club classic, which piles on headcheese, pork roll, and a liver pâté. The lambretta—which tucks thinly sliced lamb in a mild coconut-curry sauce into a soft, chewy loaf—works well, too, especially when paired with a refreshing basil limeade soda. You'll also find wacky banh mi tacos, which stuff the sandwich fillings into tortillas, but they're better in theory than practice.
