Description

Wood Tavern, in the heart of Oakland's Rockridge gastronomic district, calls itself a gastropub. We call it the very model of a New American restaurant, where you can sip a beautifully made cocktail over a plate of house-made charcuterie, sample wines by the glass with a terrific cheeseburger, or go the whole hog and linger over a three-course meal. That could be onion soup, flatiron steak, and profiteroles; or maybe grilled pear salad, seafood stew, and poached quince, all seasonally driven and organic, of course. Woody, dominated by a noisy bar, and very popular.
