No matter who wins the election in November, the country will still be at war and military spending will continue. It's also a safe bet that the Women Against Military Madness (WAMM) will make sure the government is held accountable for the use and misuse of this country's military might. After all, WAMM—which was founded as a nonviolent, feminist, nonprofit organization in the early 1980s—has always been on the watch, whether the issue is Central America, the war in Iraq, the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, the war on terror since September 11, or the use of torture. WAMM has a tradition of never holding a meeting without an accompanying action, and that's one reason why they are so effective—these are women (and men) who are willing to take to the streets, raise their voices, educate the public, and do what is necessary to seek justice in a world gone mad. Now more than ever, we need to support WAMM and its allies, because peace isn't obtained at the ballot box—it's through the will of the people. Visit WAMM's website to learn how you can get involved and give generously—these folks will be marching often in the coming months, including at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul.
