After Patrick's Night Club closed, Aurora lost one of the only places in that town where you could hear live jazz. But with the opening of Wine & Roses Jazz Club in April 2011, that void is now filled. The upscale 4,800-square-foot spot -- which brings in a steady stream of local contemporary jazz, R&B and blues acts Wednesday through Saturday -- is part of a small strip mall near a number of hotels along East 40th Avenue between Chambers Road and Pena Boulevard. Dyan Logan, who runs the spot with her daughter Roni, says the spot caters to locals and business travelers who'd like a comfortable place to hear music but still hold a conversation. The menu includes such Southern home cooking specialties as smothered pork chops, smothered chicken, spicy green beans and sweet fries.
