If you've been to Postino -- either the original in Arcadia or the wine bar's Central Avenue location -- then you have a good idea of what this latest venture from restaurateurs Craig DeMarco and Lauren Bailey has in store. With a come-hither list of craft beers, wines, and cocktails, and a menu of upscale bar staples, its location, in a renovated 1940-era building in Central Phoenix, is a favorite among well-heeled Gen Xers with an atmosphere that's conducive to simply being there. Stopping in for drinks and bar snacks is a guaranteed good time, with picnic kebabs, the mixed grain salad, crab cake BLT, or Brown Bag Chicken Sandwich best bets for eats. And if you've got a sweet tooth, Churn, DeMarco and Bailey's homemade ice cream and sweet shop, is next door.

Another great restaurant and hang-out spot in the Central and Camelback area thanks to the Postino crew. Great service and atmosphere. It's just loud enough on the inside to make you feel comfortable and kind of isolated with your friends (ie. you don't have to worry about the booth next to you overhearing your conversation). The food also came out piping hot. That's a good sign of great service and an efficient kitchen in my book.
When you dedicate an entire wall of your restaurant to your old cassette tape collection, you better make damn sure your restaurant has an outstanding playlist. Thankfully, the folks behind the music at uptown's Windsor have impeccable musical taste. The fun and upbeat restaurant cranks out alternative and indie tunes from the '80s and '90s with a few modern-day tracks thrown in for good measure. Beastie Boys, Violent Femmes, Devo, Talking Heads, Foo Fighters, and even a little Bob Marley... More »
We'll be honest: The whole "gastropub" thing has kinda fizzled with us as a trend. Give us a food truck or a pop-up any day. Maybe that's because, until recently, there hasn't been a good gastropub in town. Welcome, Windsor. Named for its 'hood, Windsor Square, this hip, charming spot is just what the real estate doctor ordered (remember what Postino did for the area just west of Arcadia?!). Windsor Square doesn't really need anyone's help in that department, but it was in need of another... More »
