No, Whip 'n Dip isn't a dominatrix's torture lair - it's an ice cream shop! And a good one at that. Family-run and open for the past 25 years, this South Miami sweet shop offers you the option of picking your poison: creamy, calorie-ridden pure deliciousness (i.e. homemade ice cream) or guilt-and-fat-free yummy frozen yogurt. For the sake of freshness, new flavors (usually ten or so varieties) of hand-dipped ice cream are available daily until the entire batch runs out. Flavors can include lychee nut, pumpkin, coffee, mint chip, and an ever-popular cookies combo that consists of a vanilla base and fresh-baked cookies. One scoop will set you back $3.35 (with tax), and two scoops cost $4.95. Other items for purchase include cookies, ice cream cakes, chocolate-covered bananas, and ice cream cannolis (all made in-house). Coffee and cappuccino are also available as are frozen treats for dogs.
Delicious ice cream in Miami=perfection!
I went today for the first time and I had the Nutella flavor and I thought it was delicious. I will definitely be returning to this great ice cream shop to try more of their flavors :) *They don't take cards so please remember to bring some cash with you*
The frozen yogurt might not be PinkBerry, but it sure is good! This family-owned ice cream and yogurt shop is old-school MIami, staffed by high school kids on summer break and all together fantastic! Always a line out the door!
Ignore the droves of soccer moms chauffeuring their sugar-craving offspring. And block out the Saturday-night teenybopper brigade heading postmovie to this South Miami institution. The smooth, creamy deliciousness that is Whip 'N Dip ice cream makes it worthwhile. Although the traditional chocolate and vanilla are always on tap, exotic flavors, including coconut and white chocolate mousse, rotate. That means you might have to make several trips back to ensure you try a cup or cone of each --... More »
George Giampetro's dairy and nondairy creations are simply the best. Making ice cream is more than a business at this mom-and-pop parlor. It's a family tradition. One that Giampetro's daughter passed on to friend Yara Herrera. Since then she's been Whip 'N Dip's magical gelato maker, responsible for the 30-plus flavors in Mr. G's store. In twenty minutes Herrera can whip up two and a half gallons of ice cream. Amazing. She's been doing it for five years, almost daily, right here at Whip 'N... More »
