That's right, the same people who send me a new catalog every 10 days (thanks guys!) now have a real-life store, inconveniently located in DUMBO. Here West Elm dispenses its chic (if not quite durable) chunky furniture and assorted soft goods (shower curtains, ridiculous pillows) to first-time nesters who don't want to take the Ikea bus. They're onto something here at West Elm, but caveat emptor: Inexpensive furniture is the same thing as cheap furniture.
