Although many restaurants close over the years, few are forced to do so because of fire. This is what happened at Blackbird's original 50th and Bryant location in 2010. A benefit party and a new lease later, the pleasant little restaurant has flourished in its new digs at 38th and Nicollet. The decor is charmingly artsy and features an odd mix of steel chairs, warm lighting, church pews, and deer antlers that somehow totally works. They also have a small but functional patio out front for those who would like to soak up some sun while dining. Happy hours run from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, and feature solid deals including $3 off tap beers and wine. Or buy a bottle and receive $5 off. Or order up a bottled or canned beer for $1 off. The menu of three-buck snacks during these hours features grass-fed hamburgers, fries with rosemary aioli, fried almonds, and other treats.
Not really a review, more a correction: The address & map shows 816 W. 50th St. 55419 - the OLD Blackbird address. The new address is 3800 Nicollet, 55409
