Description

This agreeable neighborhood bistro mounts a pair of menus, one meat-bearing, the other entirely vegetarian. The spacious dining room spills out onto Court Street right across from the movie theater, and constitutes an especially pleasant place to dine on summer evenings. One of the menu's themes is Southern cooking, and, in addition to a totally up-to-snuff mac and cheese, there's a iceberg-wedge salad and an excellent version of the Gullah classic, shrimp and grits. The grass-fed burger is another instant classic, and, among apps, we adored the marinated, deshelled mussels with their tart dressing. Sometimes, though, the dishes are too fussy for a bistro, including a roast chicken stuffed with a pesto of pumpkin seeds and mint.
