While the original Walter Foods in Williamsburg qualified as a gastropub, the newer Ft. Greene evocation strives to be more of a sit-down restaurant, and it elegantly fills a slot in that neighborhood's dining panorama for which the only previous competition was Ici, the bistro in Ft. Greene. There's an expanded raw bar that can be assembled into defacto plateaux de mer, a menu of bar sandwiches (including a French dip made with skirt steak and sided with gravy better than it needs to be), and an expanded list of entrees that includes fried chicken, lobster bucatini, and grilled steaks and fish. A view of the park from the window table is an added bonus.
