Thwack-thwack-thwack. That's the sound of the cook chopping up your Peking duck or crispy-skin roasted pork belly at this absolutely bare-bones Chinese joint in west-side strip mall. The Chinese delicacies at Wahsun are as authentic as they are inexpensive, and chances are you'll walk out with leftovers for tomorrow. One menu serves Americanized staples such as kung pao beef, Mongolian beef, and chow mein (all are excellent, BTW), but in-the-know regulars ask for a Chinese menu, which features less-familar but out-of-this-world items such as flounder, seafood tofu hot pot, whole crab in black bean sauce, and much, much more. Oh, and the egg rolls may just be the best in the Valley. Make sure you call ahead first, because this mom-and-pop operation has fluctuating hours.
I opened an account just to leave a review for Wahsun. You won't be disappointed. I had the best egg rolls I have ever had last week there and I'm still thinking about them. No alcohol(BYOB),nothing fancy and hard to get to right now with light rail construction but worth it for the food quality alone.

It ain't much to look at and the hours are sketchy, but Wahsun is a secret worth discovering for those in search of platefuls of authentic Chinese fare at crazy-low prices. In a sparsely decorated room filled with Chinese regulars from the neighborhood, Wahsun's steaming dishes arrive as if they'd been cooked in a bustling home kitchen, packed with fresh ingredients and zero frills. Start with the mammoth, must-have egg rolls, then move on to Mongolian beef or the house chow mein. Those in... More »
