Drive-in restaurants evoke a more innocent time – of hot rods, late-night malts, and early rock ‘n’ roll. Wagner’s keeps the spirit alive in Brooklyn Park, but this isn’t just a nostalgia trip. In business for more than three decades, Wagner’s offers freshly-grilled burgers, homemade cole slaw, and scratch-created soups. There are plenty of burgers on offer here, from the simplicity of a California style to the Deluxe, which offers one-third-pound of meat, cheddar cheese, bacon, mushrooms, and grilled onions. There are also hot and cold sandwiches, fried-chicken baskets, and daily soups and chili. And yes, there are malts and shakes as well – all perfect for a Saturday night on cruise, or an old-fashioned lunch.

Many commuters might not notice Wagner's as they whiz along Highway 7. The little red and white burger hut is parked on the southern frontage road, and you can't leave the main drag precisely at the spot--you have to exit early or late at Louisiana or Texas Avenue. But it's worth the side trip, if only for the rare experience of having carhops take your order and bring the food.
