Description

The original Virgilio's opened in Lakewood in 2005, and became so popular that owner and pizza master Virgilio Urbano opened a second location in an old Johnny Carino's in the summer of 2010. Although the Lakewood store has closed, this Virgilio’s in Littleton is going very, very strong. The behemoth, 6,400-square-foot space features an exhibition kitchen, cherry-red booths, a huge wine cabinet, a long back-lit bar complete with a 32-bottle Enomatic wine system imported from Italy, private rooms (one bedecked with a fireplace and walls patched with faux-Italian artwork), Sinatra pics and black-and-white photos from Urbano's family album. The entire effect is reminiscent of a red-sauce Italian joint. And you’ll find the menu loaded with classics, including pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, salads and cheeses (housemade burrata and mozzarella), as well as two daily happy hours that feature very generous pours.

  • 2013 | Best Late-Afternoon Happy Hour

There's hardly an hour of the day (or night) that Virgilio's Pizzeria & Wine Bar doesn't pimp happy hour. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, plus 9 p.m. to close Sunday through Thursday and 10 p.m. to close on Friday and Saturday, this suburban Italian joint pours $4 glasses of bubbles and red and white vino, along with premium well drinks for $3.50. And then there's the 20 percent off every single bottle of premium and reserve wines, of which there are numerous Italian winners. And that's not... More »

  • 2012 | Best Vegan Dish in a Non-Vegan Restaurant

Although many cuisine types are easily adapted to a vegan lifestyle, the cheeses and meats so prevalent in Italian cooking make it more difficult to find vegan versions of certain Italian staples, especially pizza. But not at Virgilio's. Many of the specialty pies at this very popular place (be prepared to wait for a table) lend themselves to vegan interpretations, or you can build your own pizza with a tomato- or olive oil-based sauce, dairy-free cheese, and all the usual veggie toppings... • 2012 | Best New York-Style Pizza

If you want a perfectly pleasant conversation to turn contentious, just mention the word "pizza" and watch the dough fly. Or you can just shut your piehole and plop yourself down at Virgilio's, where the New York-style pizzas are generally known to silence even the most severe skeptics. The pizzas -- sturdy, slightly raised, requisitely chewy and uniformly tinged golden -- are staunchly traditional (seekers of Brussels sprouts or ornamental orange blossoms should fuhgeddaboutit),... • 2011 | Best Bar in the Suburbs

By 5 p.m. on most nights, the bar and lounge at Virgilio's Pizza & Wine Bar is a sea of bodies, butts bumping into one another like bumper cars at an amusement park, but no one seems to mind the jostle, possibly because they're all having too much fun getting tipsy -- which is easy to do when the wine catalogue features more than fifty globe-trotting selections by the glass, in three- and six-ounce pours. The back-lit bar, complete with a 32-bottle Enomatic wine system imported from... More »

This is my new favorite restaurant. I love everything about my new neighborhood restaurant and hang out. The wine is list huge with over 60 wines by the glass. The food is so amazing that it should be ranked as the best Italian food in this town. I really don't know where to start on the food. The Fiocchi (pasta purses filled with 4 cheeses and pear) is a must try and the garlic knots are fabulous and cannot be missed. The red sauce will bring tears to your eyes as it brings back memories of grandmas Sunday sauce. The pizza is also fantastic, their Margarita is amazing with the homemade fresh mozzarella and loads of fresh basil. The staff and service are also top self. Everyone is always so nice and the owner is always around checking on things. Happy hour daily from 11am to 6pm and again late night. Martini Mondays, $5.00 martinis all day. Ladies day on Wednesday, $3.00 wine and lots more. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights and the outdoor fire pit. Bravo!!! Thank You Virgilio for coming to Littleton.
