Only in Boulder would you find a quick-service restaurant like VG Burgers, where the all-vegan, all-organic menu includes locally sourced produce and other ingredients whenever possible. After ordering from the chalkboard menu at the counter, diners can take meals home in compost-friendly containers or retire to the small but serviceable dining room, where local art hangs on the walls and veggie-friendly quotes are painted on the tabletops. Besides the several different styles of burgers (including a "bacon cheeseburger" with meat-like texture and flavor), VG Burgers also offers hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, burritos, wraps and veggie bowls, among them a creamy mac-and-cheese with a mac-and-meatballs option. There are clearly marked gluten-free options on the menu, too. And in the parking lot, which VG Burgers shares with a dry-cleaning business, there's a basketball hoop, so you can burn off some of those calories with a post-meal game of HORSE.
