This new grocery and café strives to eat locally and think globally in a space clad in recycled materials. Meat and veggies bear stickers that identify farms in Pennsylvania, New York, and New England. There's a nice dining room in back--you have to pick your way past the strollers to get to it--and the fare runs to panini, yummy organic egg sandwiches, and soups, including many vegetarian selections. The steam table stuff (We're thinking in particular of the whole-wheat mac-and-cheese) is sometimes underseasoned, and it's something of a contradiction that this green business is located in one of the graceless buildings that have sprung up on the edge of McCarren Park.
