Prices here are a little higher than in other Chinese restaurants, but the food is so in demand that you won't get a table without a reservation during season. Uncle Tai's was established in 1972 and has won multiple rewards, including the Five Star Diamond Award from the American Academy of Hospitality. The New York Times named this eatery among the "best in the land." To attack this place a little more cheaply, try the lunch entrées, which include soup of the day or vegetable salad, or the Oriental Sunset Dinner, served every day from 5:15 to 6 p.m. The platter of assorted hot appetizers is big enough for two -- it comes with spring rolls and chicken and is served on a flame-lit cast-iron platter. There is a nice choice of quality items for vegetarians and vegans.
