Tex-Mex and neon go together like enchiladas and a lava flow of melted cheese. All are served in spades in the Uncle Julio's border-town hacienda atmosphere (a lot of wood, tile and arches). And it all started here in Dallas in 1986. The grande menu selection is the #1 Herschel's Platter: a chicken enchilada, cheese chile relleno and pork tamale with a beef taco al carbon. Customers get creative with the Juanita, a make-your-own combo platter. However, there's more to Uncle Julio's than border-style cookery. Take, for example, the jumbo shrimp and ribs. For those guests interested in going farther afield, the menu offers frog legs and quail. The Swirl, Uncle Julio's signature margarita mixed with sangria, has a way of finding itself to the tabletops of many patrons.
