Sean Watson and William Reed probably would prefer it if we didn’t drop the dime on their ultra cool Ultra Lounge Tuesdays event. That’s because the hipster DJs describe their under-the-radar affair at the Merc Bar as “a word of mouth event for those in the know.”
Since it’s advertised on Facebook, the night’s really only a secret insofar as it’s open to those who can find the MercBar, which is – admittedly – no easy task. Once you locate its unassuming entrance hidden in the heart of the Esplanade, however, you’re in like Flynn.
Adjust your eyes to lighting so dim you’ll feel like you’ve become part of a vampire coven and order the city’s best caipirinhas. Kick back while Watson and Reed add to the bar’s shadowy ambiance and measured coolness with unique mixes of chillwave, acid jazz, trip-hop, and other genres.
