James Runnels and Fred Conwright, the "podners," have quite the little 'cue and soul empire in Dallas. From black-eyed peas, smoked meats of all kinds, and down-home daily specials, this Fair Park-area location is an alternative to the gut-busters at the Fair in early fall. Other times of the year, Two Podners offers Dallasites cafeteria-style grub from the eponymous barbecue, like the wildly popular ribs, and seafood, like catfish, to double-take-worthy spaghetti as well as cobbler, a drive-thru hit. Also on the menu are enchiladas, burritos, chicken-fried steak and chicken tetrazzini -- though not always simultaneously. The menu's foundation is the rotation of daily specials.
