Description

As is the case with many wine bars, the noise here is provided by the soft chatter of patrons sipping glasses of Pino or Cab from Two Forty's 12,000 bottle-capacity wine vault. Ambient room noises are accompanied by an acoustic guitar player strumming out instrumental renditions of Cyndi Lauper and Michael Jackson tunes. Under an arched brick roof, dark wood cabinetry surrounds tables wrapped around a large stone pillar, all set against the backdrop of a large glass window display revealing several wooden wine casks. There are also several small booths with low tables and gauzy curtains for those wanting a little privacy. While fermented grapes are king at this spot, Two Forty South also sports a sizable offering of signature cocktails including a Martini made with Earl Grey-infused gin and fresh lemon juice. There's also a respectable list of craft beers, including North Coast Scrimshaw, Lost Coast Great White and Chimay Red Label. Bring your wallet: beers run from $5 to $8, with cocktails hovering in the $12 range.
