Jason Boso’s burger empire was built on hard work. An appearance on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives didn’t hurt things either. Come here for well-done grease bombs in a space that oozes personality. Customers get special names to mark their orders (I was Jesse James once) and can serve themselves pickle slices from plastic tubs while they wait for their meals. If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s way more than beef on the menu. Bison, ostrich, kangaroo and other exotic animals have been featured on the menu in burger form -- once, even a burgered beaver. Wash it down with a cup of sweet and creamy Twisted Root Beer.
Best burger i've had in years...my girlfriend and i just stopped for a quick drink and stayed for hours. i loved everything about the place. especially the rooftop patio. cant say enough good things about this place...
This Deep Ellum gem is known for one of the best hamburgers in town, along with its famous homemade root beer and milkshakes that can be ordered with Bailey's or amaretto. But for those hoping to avoid a future of getting drunk on milkshakes and packing on calories from hamburgers, the turkey burger is a way to satisfy your craving for meat without all the guilt. Unlike most places that use ground turkey, Twisted Root serves up a slice of moist turkey meat and places it on a wheat bun. And, like everything else on the menu, they are happy to customize it any way you like it. We like a slice of Swiss cheese and bacon, but then we're just extra health-conscious.
Really great burger and fried goodness. The seating situation stresses me out though with big crowds...ugh!

We were sad to see that the elk sausage and fried mac 'n' cheese were off the menu on our last visit to Twisted Root, but you can still get a buffalo burger and sweet potato chips (with a dusting of cinnamon), which are tops on our list. Pretty much everything is handmade here, including the mustard and ketchup. And if you're adventurous enough to drink cinnamon banana root beer, they've got that too (they change the root beer flavor on a regular basis). And don't be offended if they call... More »
After telling a customer off and getting fired from his corporate job, proprietor Jason Boso turned to culinary school and found not only a new partner in Quincy Hart but a dream for a top-notch burger joint. Enter their brainchild Twisted Root. Hand-crafted patties of beef, turkey and occasionally ostrich and other specialty ingredients join forces with homemade root beer, original condiments, Chef Steve's ice cream and incredible fries. All delicious. We're talking lick-your-plate good.... More »
