Tropical Beach Café is a small Cuban eatery on the first floor of a Miami Beach condo building. Diners park on the street across Collins Avenue. The interior has a homey Little Havana atmosphere with telenovelas playing on TV, plateware hanging on the walls, and homemade posters announcing the flan is the town's best. The Latina staff is warm and friendly, although the sit-down/counter setup might confuse customers. The high-quality, low-priced food includes pastries, breakfast items, salads, steaks, chicken, and seafood. The most popular dishes are bistec de pollo ($7.99) and churrasco ($12.99). Both come with choice of two sides: maduros, tostones, rice with beans, fries, black beans, or rice. Also of note are the guava and cheese pastries, which patrons can buy for only 70 cents each. The café con leche isn't bad either.
