Description

Not many South Florida eateries have the reputation for revelry that the Falcon House does. The vintage cottage, constructed in 1925, is lit romantically, with roughed-up red plaster walls that look like they've seen their share of good times. The dining room twists and turns through hallways, alcoves, and around the workman-like bar, hiding all sorts of nooks and crannies to party in. Current owner Karl Alterman has rebranded the place as the Triple Eight Lounge and, along with his new head chef, the aptly named Jimmy Dean, outfitted it with home-style small plates that skew toward comfort food. Try five-cheese fondue, a cup of luxuriously textured dip served with spiced toast points. Or a steak quesadilla made with grilled rib eye and roasted peppers. The bar-food quotient is great stuff.
