A beachside hideaway for the local drinkers is found within Fort Lauderdale's Treasure Trove. Nautical trimmings and beer knickknacks are scattered along the walls where locals sharing stories occupy the high top tables and barstools. The jukebox fills the room with rock 'n' roll favorites, and the ocean breeze blows through the open-air dive. The bartenders know their patrons by name, and there's never a dry glass in the house. On Tuesdays, the bar is the place to go for an extended lunch break to chow on $1 tacos. Just steps away from the ocean, Treasure Trove is the quintessential place for beachgoers and townies searching for a relaxing night out away from the tourists.
We've all got our college classes to attend, our TPS reports to finish, and our kids to chauffeur around, but every once in a while we, as Floridia...

Some can't resist the siren song of all-you-can-eat specials at Rocco's Tacos or $1 tacos at Treasure Trove on Tuesdays. Turns out, Tuesdays aren't just for taco deals. It's a good day to take advanta... More »
Come January 1, no more taco Tuesdays -- or anything else -- at Treasure Trove. The beloved dive bar off A1A will shutter by year's end. A doubling of his $4,000-a-month rent as of January 1 by buildi... More »
Having moved here just a week ago from a landlocked, wonky metropolis, I'm still surprised by the novelty of ending up in a beachfront dive bar with a room full of people wearing flip-flops and some s... More »
The Treasure Trove is an institution on Fort Lauderdale beach. Neither hurricanes nor avaricious landlords can shake it from its moorings. But in rough seas or calm, it's Jenny who keeps things shipshape. She'll scold you for making a mess of the hot-sauce bottle on Taco Tuesday. She'll outright yell at you for using cocktail napkins to clean up a spill. But she'll also bring you a much-needed shot on a bad day, hide a friendly note in a to-go taco order for a coworker left back at the... More »
Anyone who tells you that the days of cheap fare in Fort Lauderdale are as much a thing of the past as affordable beach rentals hasn't tried Taco Tuesdays at the Treasure Trove. One lousy greenback buys you a mouth-watering, savory, soft-shelled taco in your choice of beef or chicken (we usually eat three or four before rolling ourselves home.) The shredded chicken and ground beef are both seasoned impeccably, then topped with lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, and a side of sour cream. But... More »
For this one, the female staffers of New Times had to choose between journalistic integrity and our own selfish instincts (i.e., letting other women in on our secrets). Lucky for you, we went with integrity and decided to divulge our man-trap. But note that we did not call this category Best Place to Meet Rich Men or Best Place to Meet Commitment-Minded Men. We just said single. Because of its location on Fort Lauderdale Beach, the Treasure Trove is a treasure-trove of lifeguards, boat... More »
Anyone who tells you that the days of cheap fare in Fort Lauderdale are as much a thing of the past as affordable beach rentals hasn't tried Taco Tuesdays at the Treasure Trove. But no taco is complete without a little personalized bastardization. That's where the giant spice rack of hot sauces comes into play. The varieties fluctuate weekly, but you'll always find a flavor to fit your fancy. From damn-that's-so-hot-I-need-another-margarita to sweet and fruity, they stare at you like little saucy soldiers just waiting to be thrown into battle. If you're feeling flush, have a drink. Margaritas and Coronas are only $3.25. Just save a few bucks for tipping. After all, you're going to want to come back next week.
