With its adequate sound system, 60-foot bar and hardwood dance floor, the 5,000-sq. foot Torch could be a great addition to the Lower Greenville live-music scene. As it is, though, the club's attempt to be all things to all people (douchebags can get bottle service even if they're wearing shorts) keeps it from being anything special. It's a nice setting for its sporadic, if poorly promoted, live hip-hop shows. The place was the site of a rather inadvertently funny bar-to-MC misunderstanding: moments after a bartender stated that the bar had no drink specials, the host of a hip-hop showcase tried to boost bar traffic by boasting that the bar had great drink specials.
