Around for more than 80 years in various manifestations and originally the city morgue, this downtown landmark popular with business types and government movers and shakers was purchased in early 2011 by the Bidwill family, owners of the Arizona Cardinals. Featuring traditional and upscale tavern-style dishes, a few with a Southwestern twist, served up in a sophisticated setting, best bets are the Cuban and prime rib French dip sandwiches served with sides of Tom’s Famous 1929 Chili or the mac ‘n’ cheese; the Diablo chicken wing appetizer; and the meaty fish and chips.
