Description

This brewpub across the way from the University of Miami is owned by beer lover Kevin Rusk, who makes it a point to pour good, homemade suds to accompany great live music. Since the place opened in the Nineties, the menu hasn't changed an iota. The seasonal brews are always a delight: The Triple Screw is a fail-safe standby, and the guest-starring Woodchuck cider tastes like frothy heaven. Generously sized empanada appetizers boast tasty meat interiors and flaky pastry exteriors. Other standouts include crawfish-and-andouille bisque, and steamed mussels "fra diablo." On a recent visit, the steerage skirt steak sandwich came dangerously rare in the middle, but the Santa Fe chicken salad, with creamy garlic dill dressing, was crunchy and delicious. Dinner entrée prices top out at $17.95, which will nab you either a rib eye steak or soft-shell crabs, and $14.95 for shrimp étoufée is a steal. Rotating rock bands and slurring coeds are regular fixtures. The Sunday night karaoke delivers a hearty dose of Journey and Sublime.

Titanic has been a long time favorite for me and my family. Along with their awesome home brews, there are so many delicious menu options that never disappoint. And the friendly wait staff are always a plus!

Been coming for years. Love the service they treat you like family. Beer is one of a kind and second to none in the South Florida area. Surprising enough the food is under rated. You need to try the Shrimp and Grits!

Titanic makes its own delicious beer and simple, hearty food. It's almost like an interdimensional portal into the Midwest -- a window, if you will, out of Mojitotown. Some of us just need beer and meat loaf at least once a week -- it's kind of an anti-gym membership. If you're jonesing for that kind of thing, Titanic gives you an easy out. For $85 a year, they'll engrave a large mug with whatever handle you choose and keep it around on a hook. They'll give you a shirt, feed you... More »

  • 2007 | Best Microbrewed Beer

Miami is not a beer town. There are a few good brewpubs (the Abbey, Titanic) but generally, it's all Corona, pricey Italian piss-water, and domestic swill. As a result, the 50 paunchy members of the town's most beer-hungry citizenry have taken to brewing in their homes. On the third Monday of every month, they hunker down at a long table at the far end of the Titanic to compare brews. Of late, the pub's kindly owner has allowed them access to his equipment for custom batches. Their creations... More »

BEST MICROBREWED BEER Titanic Restaurant & Brewery 5813 Ponce de Leon Boulevard Coral Gables 305-667-2537 When he decided to dip his toe into the rapidly growing microbrewery pool, Kevin Rusk wasn't entirely sold on the concept. He took his time, did a ton of research, and was considering the ideal theme for such an establishment. At the time, his partner Keith Wyness was affiliated with the cruise ship industry. He promised to deliver busloads of thirsty tourists as long as they came... More »

  • 2003 | BEST MICROBREWED BEER

With about a dozen specialty beers on tap (plus seasonal selections) and another half-dozen or so microbrews in bottle, Titanic may not have the biggest selection, but there's no arguing that this brewery and restaurant has the most flavorful, carefully crafted beer in town. Brewmaster Jamie Ray whips up at least half of the daily draught offerings, including the evocatively named Boiler Room Nut Brown Ale and Triple Screw light ale, and he keeps receiving national awards for them at... • 2001 | Best Hamburger

Kevin Rusk took a risk when he named his brewpub for the doomed ocean liner that sank in 1912, but he's managed to keep it afloat for the past two years. Drawing on his success at Tobacco Road and Fishbone Grille, Rusk has created an eclectic menu that's designed to complement Titanic's handcrafted award-winning beers. Bypassing the uncharted (but tasty) waters of gangplank salmon and steerage skirt steak sandwich, we've found our safety zone in something tried and true: the essential... More »

  • 2000 | Best Microbrewed Beer

Since opening a little more than a year ago, the Titanic has hopped up the local beer scene. It hosts South Florida's home-brewing competition, the Coconut Cup, which features battles between the Miami Area Society of Homebrewers (MASH) and the Fort Lauderdale Area Brewers (FLAB). It's also received national acclaim at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado, where the Captain Smith's Rye Ale took home a bronze medal in the specialty-beer category, and recently was named a...
