Literally the would-be yard of the Soho Grand, The Yard is a backyard for all of those New Yorkers who don’t have their own outdoor space in which it's suitable for getting drunk. The food fits the space, too, and is mostly burgers, tacos, sliders, and anything else a somewhat well-prepared host would serve at a legit yard party. The service is about as professional as you could expect from that kind of place, too. The bar is open to the public--not just the hotel guests (though some events are a bit exclusive)--but hours come and go with the weather, as the space is entirely outdoors. Drinks are reasonable and ideal for the summer, with the highlights being the buckets of beer and big pitchers of sangria, which are available in classic red or white peach. --Shane Barnes
