When Brooke Kline and Aaron Scott took over the Portulaca Cafe space in 2008, the pair transformed the decades-old Slavic speakeasy into a hip and cozy dive bar and dubbed it the White Owl. While the Globeville watering hole, which feels like a classic speakeasy, now attracts a fairly younger clientele, the older regulars still come for the cheap beer and drink specials. In front of an ancient PBR sign, there's a small stage for the bar's Wednesday-night open-mike gig and the occasional band that plays on the weekend.
