Description

Triple Door's gorgeous, stately main stage might just be the best place in town to catch a show. Lots of venues only serve frozen wing-dings and nachos, but upstairs neighbor Wild Ginger caters the food here. You can order pan-Asian dishes-like black-pepper scallops and fresh mango pork-at bistro prices. Too bad they're a cut below what you'd get at the restaurant (stick to apps). However, the bartenders mix a great cocktail, and the waiters never stumble or get lost in the dark.

For some people, bar food means greasy sliders, chicken wings, and nachos smothered in bright orange goo (allegedly called cheese). If you're one of those people, The Triple Door is not for you. But if you actually want an interesting meal that just happens to be served in a bar--and one that also offers interesting music--then there's no better place than this downtown spot, with a restaurant run by pan-Asian Wild Ginger, which is right next door. From seafood Thai noodles to salt-and-pe... More »

  • 2009 | Best Venue for One-Hit Wonders and Noodles

Of all the music venues in the city, the Triple Door is the only one to bring in the one-hit wonder as often as it does indie bands and national acts. Musicians like Joan Osborne, Shawn Mullins, and Edwin McCain have all graced its stage, to the delight of diehard fans and those who simply love, well, that one song. The swanky space has clear sightlines from every seat and a great sound system, so it feels as though your favorite artist has been brought back from pop-culture obscurity to... More »
