I love history, especially Dallas history, but I wouldn't want to live all of it. I'm perfectly fine with my air-conditioned flat in East Dallas and my gas-guzzling, smallish SUV on somewhat smooth cement roads. When I need to revisit our local past, I just head out to a museum, but if Im spotted at Dallas Heritage Village's Second Annual Texas Crossroads Festival, consider it an anomaly and take pictures. The old-timey fair with "Barnyard Jamborees", bean bag tosses and pony stick races isn't quite up my alley, but my curiosity is piqued by bluegrass band The New Hokum Boys. I've never seen live music with a washboard and jug before. Plus, the addition of badminton and horseshoes (I have kicked ass in both) could draw me in.
