Outfitted in bric-a-brac, the Pig and Whistle's ornaments embody the cozy character of a traditional pub. Brass trinkets, old spoons, and metalwork are sprinkled around the main room. Down the hallway that leads to the pool table, the walls are adorned with framed vintage maps and found photos. Serving up breaded, battered, and buttered pub grub such as bangers and mash, fish and chips, pasties, and shepherd's pie alongside European lagers and ales, the Pig and Whistle aims to keep you seated for some time with a full stomach. Always a pretty social place, it gets packed on Wednesday and Sunday evenings for the pub quiz. The crowd is predominantly college students, but it's not a rowdy or rude bunch. In the main room, you can tinker around on the jukebox, play trivia, or shoot darts; in the back room, you can play pinball.
