Description

Outside the big windows of the Perfect Landing Restaurant, an off-the-beaten-path spot on the second floor of the Denver JetCenter at Centennial Airport, small airplanes buzz as they take off and land. Inside, live lobsters swim in a tank by the entrance and a man named Boogie Bob plays old-timey piano tunes five days a week. The restaurant feels like a hometown throwback, with its quasi-upscale decor and meat- and seafood-heavy menu. For breakfast, there are massive four-egg omelets, surf-and-turf Benedicts and seven kinds of pancakes. For lunch, there's your choice of fourteen sandwiches or thirteen salads, including a BBQ steak salad. And the dinner menu features such standouts such as beef Wellington, ahi Nicoise and Santa Barbara chicken. Restaurant regulars -- pilots and locals alike -- rave about the lunchtime Mexican offerings, including burritos and fish tacos. And for dinner, they suggest the $20 Maine lobster. Diners, fasten your seatbelts.

In the morning, watch the sun hit the mountains as you dig into a four-egg omelette; come back in the late... More »

Starting the day off sunny side up can be tough in a town where the morning options lean heavily toward quasi-cheery chains and dreary mom-and-pop dives. And the familiar standbys that don't fall into those categories -- Racines and Dixons, Dozen'... More »
