Despite its ornate, brothel-like embellishments (green walls, sassy girlie-print wallpaper, gilded mirrors), the Parlour Room goes for a low-key neighborhood vibe: no reserved seats, no guest lists, no attitude and no DJs (juke only). When previous owners attempted to make the space more exclusive, it saw constant turnover in the past few years - Madame Royale, Play, Red Buddha, etc. It was coolest when it was Goldfingers, a rockin' grotto known for live bands, grinding girlies and killer DJs, and owner Craig Trager (the Well, the Woods, the Fifth) seems to be returning to this attitude, if not the live aspects. The anything-goes ambiance of Goldfingers is captured here but with an old-school twist, most notably by the bar's signature snazzy sippers such as Maple Juleps, Cucumber Coolers and "always $5" martinis.
