Situated on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, just south of Old Spanish Trail, Third Ward’s Red Rooster club has been in operation since the mid-1970s. Patrons are encouraged to “dress to impress,” and the club is often filled with dapper folks looking to dance the evening away to some blues and soul tunes. The dance floor is full even on Wednesday, loaded with customers who enjoy the grown ‘n’ sexy atmosphere. It’s a common sight to see the bar stacked deep with people ordering drinks, but fear not: cocktail waitresses circulate throughout the large room, stopping off at the dozens of tables.
