The Fir, which joined Old Ballard Avenue's tavern lineup in the summer of 2010, is definitely a welcome addition. It's bright and clean, with a quaint wall of bookshelves and plenty of seating, including several huge wooden booths for larger parties, and offers an admirable selection of Northwest beverages served in 20-ounce imperial pints. The Fir also has one of the largest selection of ciders we've encountered in this city, with 12 different varieties, including local flavors from Olympia (Spire Mountain Dark & Dry Cider on tap) and Mt. Vernon (Fire Barrel Cider in a bottle).
