In 2009 the wife-husband team of Casey and Jeremy Miller bought this popular Benton Park spot (then known as the Mississippi Mud House) and with the help of chef Chris Bork (Revival, the Terrace View) have raised the bar for coffeehouse eats. The fare is casual but not simplistic: A standout sandwich features a confit of pork shoulder, the meat sinfully luscious and intensely porky. Breakfast, including an egg, cheese and bacon or sausage sandwich and a terrific breakfast burrito, is available all day. The menu features produce from the Mud House's own garden.

And you might not be a "foodie" (don't you detest that word?), but you certainly know your way around a menu if you do say so yourself. Still, even if you did want to attend one of these events, you -- how to put this, er, delicately? -- you lack the... More »
The Cherokee neighborhood has been working to make a comeback for a long time. Stop by to get a cup of the joint's house-roasted joe and roaster/barista Christopher Ruess will happily introduce you to any number of his devoted neighbors and patrons. From the president of the...
