Tamales are the biggest reason people head to the Mexican Grocery. The price alone grabs your attention: a paper-wrapped fat nugget of meat in a thin layer of masa for under two bucks. But one bite of any of the three varieties focuses your attention on greater matters than price-the pork filling is merely darn good, while the chunky beef is better than most homemade, and the chicken, finely chopped and hotly spicy, is flat-out delectable.
