The Long Room lays the smack down on its Times Square competition: thirty beers on tap, a spacious (and long!) building brimming with minglers, a stone fireplace, and appealing quasi-medieval Irish-pub decor. You won't mistake it for an historic downtown beer bar (microbrewery beverages are minimal here, and bookshelves house empty cut-and-pasted spines), but get over it. It wouldn't be Times Square if everything was "authentic," and this place gets the art of illusion exactly right.
