There are strip clubs, and then there are men's clubs. The Lodge is one of the latter. For one thing, it was named Best Men's Club in the Observer's 2010 Best of Dallas issue. There is no membership fee, no cover charge, no black light and no disco balls. Instead, The Lodge goes for a high-end look, with smallish rooms fashioned to resemble a luxury hunting lodge. The kitchen offers a full menu from opening until closing, and there's a wine cellar as well. And there's Wi-Fi throughout the club for those inclined to stay connected while staring at the scenery.
Men's Health magazine has set out to find the nation's most manly restaurant. Their website listed a seemingly arbitrary selection of eateries around the country and asked what makes for many eating. ... More »
In the third part of our Q & A with Jose Luis Nieto, executive chef of The Lodge, he muses on everything from his favorite television chef, his kitchen tools of choice, to what herbs and spices he cou... More »
Yesterday, we asked Jose Luis Nieto, executive chef at The Lodge, to tell us about himself, how he got his start, and the special challenges of cooking gourmet-quality food at a gentleman's club. Toda... More »
This week, Three-Course Meal catches up with Jose Luis Nieto, executive chef at The Lodge. Who are you? I'm 41 years old and was born in Jalisco, Mexico, the place where I believe the best Tequila i... More »
The Lodge is, without qualification, the nicest strip club in Dallas. Hell, maybe even in Texas. For starters the dancers are absolute knockouts who don't just mount the stage and shimmy out of lingerie. They wear ornate, theme-driven costumes. They dress up as pixies. They juggle fire. They emerge from a cave facade, surrounded by vaguely unsettling stuffed animals and lacquered cedar boughs. Their chef, a legit culinarian the club plucked from Terrilli's, roasts a flavorful prime rib. The... More »
You know the old stereotypes about strip clubs. They're dark. They're seedy. They're fun. But when push comes to shove, they're filled with awkwardness and regret. Hold up, though, fans of naked women: Those sentiments don't apply to The Lodge, except for the fun part. Designed to look like a ski or hunting lodge, the place isn't your run-of-the-mill black-room-with-silver-poles establishment. No, this one has wood furnishing everywhere, and it's complemented by stone and brick adornments.... More »
Several years back, we accompanied Lodge owner Dawn Rizos to Las Vegas. No, for a cover story, jeez. Anyway, the occasion of the sojourn was a piece about Rizos, then vying for the award of Best Overall Club of the year during the annual Gentlemen's Club Owners Expo, where such prestigious honors are handed out. Never forget that trip: booze and boobs, chief among them the night's MC Pauly Shore. Well, after years of playing topless-bar Susan Lucci, the Lodge finally picked up the honor a... More »
If you're skeptical of all the hype surrounding professional poker these days, you're not alone. Watching other people play cards on television is about as exciting as watching them balance their checkbooks. Indeed, the whole concept of the poker face is to be as boring as humanly possible. But actually playing the game is a different story. When you're desperate to try to figure out what's going on behind those blank faces around the table, things are a lot more interesting. Now take that... More »
We live in a world of modern convenience where cars have TVs and DVD players in them and even a lowly cigarette lighter can occasionally be outfitted to double as a bottle opener. The same concept of convenience applies to the free Sunday-afternoon no-limit Texas hold 'em tourneys at The Lodge, which, if you didn't know, is one of the area's finer gentlemen's clubs. (Or strip bar. Whatever. We're cool either way.) Where else can you gamble, drink, smoke and ogle nekkid ladies at the same... More »
Several years back, we accompanied Lodge owner Dawn Rizos to Las Vegas. Well, after years of playing topless-bar Susan Lucci, the Lodge finally picked up the honor a few weeks back, and rightly so. Because, look, we won't beat around the...um...we'll come clea...erm...straight up, this is th...ah, dang. Anyway, the long and short of it's this: classy joint in a seedy biz, no other way to put it. Drinks are expensive (it is a topless bar), but food's top-notch (lobster's always a winner, no kidding), the waitstaff's as kind as the Red Cross, and the ladies are superior to any other joint in town. Ask the men—ladies too, as every time we visit the joint's stocked with female customers for whom a trip to Northwest Dallas' finest might as well be a weekend in Vegas.
This place has better food than many 5 star restaurants! Not only that, it's less expensive and the view is the best in the country. If you love food and a good stiff drink with a side of sexy, this place cannot be missed.
This is the best plce in Dallas to hang out. My husband and I would go there at least once a month. It's very relaxing, the girls are sweet, kind, and beautiful, the drinks are wonderful, and the food is 5 star. Very much worth the cover charge!
