We stopped in for a Newcastle Ale and ended up staying for dinner-and what a dinner! Moules Mariniere: mussels with onions, steamed in white wine and herb liquor. We'll never recover, it was so tasty. We went back for a more traditional British dinner that started with Scotch Eggs (hardboiled and wrapped in sausage, then deep fried) followed by a sirloin-stuffed Cottage Pie with onions and carrots and topped with cheddar-mashed potatoes and a helping of fresh veggies. Next time we plan to try the traditional Yorkshire Pudding, which we hear is the best in town. Meantime, cheerio, old bean-we're counting the days until we can return to this bit of Britain.
My husband and I frequent this place often. The food is fantastic. Our favorites our the prime rib and the fish and chips are the best in the valley. Service has always been great. We cannot say a bad thing about this place. We look forward to going back every time!
I visited the Harp Pub with my mother in-law, Ethel and we both were totally impressed! We agreed that our waiter was wonderful, he had worked at the Pub while it was British & stayed on when it was converted to The Harp Irish Pub so he had knowledge of it from it's beginnings. Ethel asked if he could tell her the history and he took the time to explain ALL to us. The service is excellent. The Pub's atmosphere almost made you feel like you were on the "Emerald Island!
Our waiter suggested that we try the "Battered Mushrooms" w/the garlic Aioli, so we did. They advertise that they have the "The Best Fish & Chips in the valley" so we both ordered that. "Mom asked our waiter how many pieces of fish were in the serving and when he said just 1 her face looked at him very disappointed, but he showed the size of the piece with his hands measuring about a "foot"!! when the mushrooms came out to us, they were "ABSOLUTELY THE BEST" I have ever eaten (we ordered a 2nd)!!! When the fish came out, we were both surprised the the fish was indeed a FOOT LONG and to a girl that grew up w/fresh fish from Michigan I felt like I was back home! You definitely have to try it... We have been back there several times, even bringing our husbands a couple of times. You have to visit The Harp Pub, you will not be disappointed!
