Living life on the Edge, in this case, means paying a visit to this dark dive in the Castro. The tiny corner bar is close to the Castro Theatre, so it's great for a pre- or post-movie drink. Happy hour starts at noon and runs till 7 p.m., but the place is cash only, so make sure your wallet is full to take advantage of the specials: Sundays are all about $3 Bloody Marys to aid hangovers, Mai Tai Mondays offer up the strong and sweet concoctions for $4, and on Tuesday they sell PBR cans for $1. Planets hang from a cosmos-themed ceiling, the bartenders are friendly, and the music is random but enjoyable. A quiet, sparsely populated space early in the week, the Edge is packed from hump day on, especially on Fridays, when the self-explanatory "Strong Drinks, Low Lights, Men" sets off the weekend. Be warned: there is only one bathroom.
