The Dubliner in downtown Fort Lauderdale is the latest venture of the successful Sub Culture restaurant group. Located at the former PL8 Kitchen on SW Second Street, Dubliner brings authentic Irish fare with a modern twist, like the corned beef and cabbage sliders or the spinach and kale salad. The atmosphere is markedly more mellow for the surrounding Himmarshee District, featuring dim lighting, dark wood and leather accents, an upstairs library and lounge filled with Irish literature, and an overall contemporary design slant. A long bar occupying the space where Side Bar used to be shows off Dubliner's formidable selection of whiskey and draft beer, which go on special depending on the day of the week. Flat-screen TVs make it easy to catch sports.
