Why do breakfast eaters descend in droves on The Dish, a modest cafe situated in the nondescript zone between Ballard and Fremont? Because the ingredients are top quality, everything's served in healthy portions, the coffee never stops flowing, and the mismatched furnishings are weirdly comforting. There's no such thing as a signature item here, but a case could be made for the Slacker Especial (scrambled eggs, green chiles, tortilla chips, and Monterey Jack, zesty enchilada sauce, topped with sour cream and salsa). Nevertheless, it's all good, including the lunch side of the menu.
Great breakfast place, but don't tell, 'cause the line is already too long.
