Houston's favorite dark, hip and nasty rock and roll bar, The Dirt, is located directly across the street from the Houston Pavilions complex off Caroline. The Dirt capitalizes on music-drunk fans spilling out of House of Blues across the street and Toyota Center two blocks away, to get even more sauced after their favorite band plays. The bar's staff slings drinks behind the granite countertop, and the most popular thing here seems to be the timeless Jack & Coke. The only hitch seems to be finding street parking on downtown's busier nights, leaving you with the options of walking or ponying up for paid parking.

DO NOT SUPPORT OR PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT. THEY DISCRIMINATE AGAINST DISABILITIES!!
I was harassed continuously by the staff for having a service animal. I provided documents and license for my service dog, even tho law does NOT require i do so. After several inappropriate and illegal questions about the nature of my disability from his staff, the owner Shawn asked me to leave his bar. He originally stated it was because of my dog, then changed his reason to dress code violation, and then changed it again to "being rude to his staff". Regardless of what he stated, the fact I was harassed because my service animal is blatant discrimination and is illegal. A complaint is being filed with the Department of Justice.
Houston's favorite dark, hip and nasty rock bar, The Dirt, is now located across from the House of Blues off Caroline after spending its first few years incubating in the Heights. The bar's staff comes complete with fun rocker attitude, with extremely pretty, sorta-dressed girls and tattooed boys who will do shots with you if you're cool. The only hitch seems to be finding street parking on downtown's busier nights, leaving you with the options of walking or ponying up for paid parking. More »
