All radio programs exploring Minnesota music are not created equal. One irreplaceable charm is the venerable voice of David Campbell. When hosting The Local Show, the Current's weekly dip into everything locally grand, he's a relatable everyman musician who has spent more than a few nights onstage, but he also serves as an encyclopedia (and trusted arbiter) of local trends. With music reporter (and City Pages alum) Andrea Swensson contributing regular reports to the show and Jon Schober's... More »

Seel brings decades of experience in radio and has a deep passion for all types of music--he cut his teeth as a classical music host in the 1990s--and tempers that with an equally deep knowledge of the music, musicians, and even instruments behind the songs that are played. Want to know how Keith... More »
That the Current provides mostly engaging music cutting across a lot of genres--though firmly settled in modern alternative rock--without commercials or many interruptions (except for pledge drives, the necessary evil of public broadcasting) puts it near the top of the map in a local radio community dominated by rock 'n' roll dinosaurs, achingly bland purveyors of pop, and endless rows of talk. It's the station's commitment to local artists that drives it over the top. The Current... More »
